This design pays tribute to the historic phrase "Don't Give Up the Ship," famously associated with Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry during the War of 1812. The phrase "DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP" is displayed horizontally on the towel resembling the original battle flag carried by Perry.
Historical Context:
This phrase originates from Captain James Lawrence, who commanded the USS Chesapeake during a battle against the British in 1813. Mortally wounded, Lawrence's last words were, "Don’t give up the ship!" His friend, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, later adopted this phrase as his personal battle flag during the Battle of Lake Erie, where he led American forces to a decisive victory. The phrase has since become a symbol of perseverance, patriotism, and naval courage.
Beach days are always a bliss – showing up with a luxuriously soft and customized beach towel however can add a bit more sunshine to your day. This heavyweight towel feels extra lush to the touch as it features a polyester facing where your prints go in vivid detail, and a cotton loop backing for durability.
Please note: Due to the thickness of the towel the print colors may not soak all the way through the fabric and a white backing can appear when towel fibers are stroked.
